You never skip bucket 2. After you show the consequence of the choice, you should somehow confirm or correct the choice. That information might be optional "telling" feedback, it might be "showing" feedback delivered through the story, or it might be delayed until a debrief at the end of the story, but it needs to be available for the people who need it. Recommended approach: For most projects, I recommend you try creating a stream of activities, not a presentation that’s interrupted by occasional activities. For each activity, you could consider providing the information in the following ways. Decision point: Make information available optionally, such as the real-world job aid. The info is available in the decision point itself, to be pulled by the people who need it. Feedback (unique for each choice!): First show the consequence of the choice, and then make correcting or confirming information available. That information might be the relevant part of the job aid, or some “telling” feedback delivered in a non-patronizing way or through group discussion. I recommend making this confirming information optional, but worried stakeholders or user testing might convince you to deliver it automatically, after showing the consequence of the choice. Debrief after a series of activities or a complex branching scenario: Provide a debrief to help people see the principles or concepts that connect the activities. If people are learning how to deal with grey areas, a live discussion might be best. Otherwise, try to provide the debrief as thought-provoking questions, not just a list of bullet points. 10. Consider how you might fade the help Should the information you've identified always be available, or should you gradually take it away so people have to rely on their memory? If the activities have people use a real-world job aid that they'd also be able to use on their jobs, there's no reason for them to memorize the information. They'd even be able to use it during assessment activities, as shown below. The question mark represents an activity, while the document represents the real-world job aid. It's always available, just like in the real world. (The path goes down one column and then the other.) On the other hand, if your supporting information should eventually be memorized, you could gradually withdraw ("fade") the help during the stream of activities. For example, if the help is a worked example, you'd complete less of the example each time until participants are completing the entire task on their own. 11. Decide how you’ll help people see overarching concepts We've been focusing on the information required to make a good decision. At this point it's easy to focus on the specifics, such as the steps of. Debrief, free and safe download. Debrief latest version: Debrief for Google Chrome. The discipline of doing my daily trading journal is the single greatest factor in my success. The single most greatest factor. He said, you know, Chuck, it's funny because he's like, I get busy, I've got other commitments and it's easy for me in a given day to skip my debrief, to not do my journal. Because I found I can skip it and I can get away with it for a day or two or a few days or few weeks, but what I find is that all of a sudden, I find myself struggling. My trading performance will fall off and I'll be sitting there wondering, why am I struggling? And you know, it hit me, I'm either not doing my daily debriefs or my debriefs are shit. I'm rushing through them and I'm not giving them any thought. Because I have realized that my daily debrief is the single greatest factor in my success. The daily debrief is the place that I capture everything that I'm seeing in the market, analyzing in the market and this work I'm doing is training my brain to make my brain more effective and more efficient in analyzing the market. It's also giving me the opportunity to process all of my emotions and to give a clean end to the day in which I can leave the day, knowing that I did my very best, regardless of the PNL, regardless of the PNL. Okay, you're hearing this from one of the greatest of all time. Somebody that many people think is the Michael Jordan of trading, that his debrief is the single most important factor in his success. Now, most traders don't even do a debrief at all. When they're done, they just leave. Well, that's a disaster waiting to happen just right there, but going one step further, there's the process around how we do the debrief and that's gonna bring us full circle back to this concept of positivity, because I'm going to share the way we do the debrief and I want you to notice something.Four simple questions that we ask, four categories of questions. This is the structure of our daily debrief that will set you up for success. The first question, the first component is the what was great? So we're gonna ask ourselves the question, what was great as a result of the way we executed our trading processes, today, or this week, or whatever period is your debriefing would just say it's the day. So what was great today as a result of the way that we executed our trading processes? Then notice the next question, what else? What else was great? I noticed

Learning is not a passive process. The more you can get students participating, not just listening, the better their retention and ownership over the experience will be.That’s where the workshop model comes in. The workshop model minimizes the amount of lecturing you do, but still allows you to guide the discussion and flow of learning. Let’s take a dive into what this model can look like in your classroom. The Benefits of the Workshop ModelAccording to Edutopia, a successful workshop has three components: a mini-lesson, a workshop, and a debrief. In the mini-lesson, you briefly introduce a new concept or skill through direct instruction or a more open-ended activity. The workshop component involves students working independently or in small groups to explore or practice the new concept. Finally, after the workshop, you bring the class back together to debrief about what they learned and the challenges they faced. So what are the benefits of structuring your lessons according to this model? According to Streetlight Schools, workshops allow students to:“Learn by doing”: When introducing a new topic—especially a complex one—teachers are often tempted to provide rigorous direct instruction to make sure students are prepared to engage with it. However, in reality, students often learn and retain better when they explore the boundaries of a new topic for themselves, even if that means making mistakes along the way.Receive differentiated and targeted instruction: The workshop component of this model allows you to integrate differentiated activities seamlessly into your lessons. The mini-lesson and debrief might be

Online, self-paced, faceto-face... This flexibility has all sorts of advantages, but it also makes it easy for us to create what seems like a random collection of unrelated challenges. That's why I strongly suggest you include a debrief after any stream or collection of activities. The debrief helps people see the higher-level concepts that connect the activities — it helps them move from the concrete to the conceptual and back again. For example, in the Iraq military scenario described in chapter 11, the facilitator led a debrief discussion that encouraged people to identify the cultural concepts and basic recommendations that the scenario was designed to elicit. The discussion pulled the focus up from the specific story to the more globally useful concepts. In our simpler course on sharps safety, we could go through several decision-making activities, and then ask participants to identify the common situations or errors that underlie the mistakes they saw. For example, we could get participants to point out that in three of the activities, the scenario characters ran into trouble because they let themselves be distracted and skipped steps of the procedure. Debrief formats Carefully led discussions are great for debriefs, but they're not always possible. For example, in self-paced elearning, the debrief might be limited to a very short presentation highlighting the concepts or higher-level lessons delivered by the activities. In the needlestick course, this could be a very short summary of the common errors underlying specific mistakes. A slightly better approach would be to display open-ended questions that ask people to elicit some concepts, and then summarize the concepts when learners click to reveal the answer. A further step for elearning would be to encourage participation in an asynchronous discussion forum. You could seed this forum with questions that ask people to identify the concepts and conclusions they drew from the activities. The more controversial your questions, the more participation and thinking you're likely to elicit. Invite critiques of the activity If you're using a complex branching scenario or a shorter but controversial activity, one sure way to get a discussion going is to ask people to provide feedback on the design. For example, you could ask, "Which options do you wish you had at this point?" and "Why do you think the designers left them out?" Have learners create or improve job aids If you had people use job aids or other references during the activity, ask for feedback about them in the debrief. You could even go a step further and provide less-than-perfect job aids for the activity, knowing that people will want to improve them. A more advanced step is to provide no job aid during the activity and ask the
