The Line Printer Daemon (LPD) protocol is used to provide printer spooling and network print server functionality for UNIX-like systems such as HP-UX, Linux, and Macintosh.To enable (or disable) the LPR / LPD protocol:Login to CWIS as the Administrator. See the Related Content for additional information.Click on the [Properties] tab.Click on [Connectivity] to expand the list of options.Click on [Port Settings].Next to LPD, select the [Enabled] or [Disabled] check box.NOTE: Disabling LPD will affect clients printing to the printer over TCP/IP using the LPR printing port.If LPD was enabled, continue with the next step, otherwise, skip to step 14.To configure LPD:Click on [Protocols] to expand the list.Click on [LPD].Enter an LPD port number or use the default port number of 515 in the field provided.Enter the connection time-out in the field provided.Enter the maximum number of sessions in the field provided.Click on the [Enabled] check box next to TCP-MSS Mode, if necessary.
