Although advancements in renewable energy technology over the long term will drive down the cost of power generation and energy storage, it will require intensive R&D input, and the switch in industrial production models needed for green transformation would incur costs centering on electrification and intelligentization.Overall, one of the intrinsic requirements for green transformation is to increase the fossil energy consumption cost. When it costs more to use fossil energy than to use renewable energy (i.e., when the green premium drops to below zero), the switch towards clean energy should accelerate, and fossil energy consumption should trend down, driving carbon emissions to decline. As the technology for renewable energy advances, the cost of using it will initially increase, then decrease.Footnote 12 We believe as the proportion of renewable energy in total energy consumption goes up, the overall energy consumption costs will also show an inverted U-shaped pattern, and the volatility of energy prices will eventually decline.
