Awasu Personal Edition v2.0.4 (beta) for Windows 98/MeIMPORTANT: This is a beta release. Some features may not be complete and the software may be unstable. Install at your own risk! You may need to do some basic computer maintenance tasksto get this release to run.Why is there a special version for Windows 98/Me?Awasu uses a system known as Unicode to store information which allows it to handle feeds in any language, not just English. Unfortunately, neitherWindows 98 nor Me are able to run Unicode programs. Microsoft providean extension known as the Microsoft Layer For Unicode that lets Unicodeprograms run on 98/Me but unfortunately this is, at best, a hack, and whileit works fine most of the time, there are some things known to have problems. This version of Awasu has been specially modified to use the MSLU. There are a small number of known issues but it generally works. However, if you notice that something is not quite working properly, please let us knowand we will do our best to fix it.InstallationYou must already be running 2.0.3.As always, exit Awasu and back up your installation first!Unpack the following zip on top of your existing files: Awasu-PersonalEdition-v2.0.4.mslu.zipIf you have purchased the Advanced Edition, you can get it here.Delete archive.db in your user's home directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\Awasu\Users\YOUR-NAME).You will lose your archived items but all your channels and settings will remain. Doing this is not essential if you are running alpha3 butstill recommended. If you have made changes to any of the template files, please

Dan Current Version The doc's on the Awasu site imply that the current version is 2.1.2. When I bring up the About box it says my version is 2.1. I just, in the last day or so, download the professional edition, how can I tell if it is the current version? Thanks,Dan support Site Admin Posts: 3073 Joined: Fri Feb 07, 2003 12:48 pm Location: Melbourne, Australia Contact: Re: Current Version Post by support » Thu Oct 06, 2005 8:05 am When you purchase Awasu, you get sent details of how to get the latest *general* release. Otherwise, the window is closed/minimized to the systray. The item pane is not set to be automatically hidden.1. Sometimes clicking on an item in the item pane causes the Awasu window to be restored (i.e. un-maximized). I've not been able to distinguish any sort of pattern as to why or when this happens, I'm afraid.2. On opening the Awasu window from the system tray, the control center is 0 pixels wide and I have to drag it back to proper width. This only happens when synchronization (either save or load) has been triggered externally while the Awasu window is in the system tray, so I doubt it's affecting many users. abwilson Posts: 247 Joined: Sun Feb 09, 2003 12:36 am Location: San Francisco, CA -- USA Post by abwilson » Wed Jan 05, 2005 3:43 pm I see 2. very frequently, but I am not using synchronization at all. support Site Admin Posts: 3073 Joined: Fri Feb 07, 2003 12:48 pm Location: Melbourne, Australia Contact: Re: Minor UI issues Post by support » Thu Jan 06, 2005 6:34 am topeju wrote:1. You may need to do some basic computer maintenance tasks to get this release to run.InstallationFirst, backup your existing Awasu installation! However, while it rendered your feed content safe, it was a bit heavy-handed in that it stripped everything, including tags that are perfectly safe e.g. or .This release introduces a much smarter and selective process of removing dangerous HTML from your feeds. Everything is configured to work out of the box, so you don't need to do anything for this feature to be active, nor should you see any changes in how Awasu works. The only difference you are likely to see is in feeds that embed things like YouTube videos using the tag. Because this tag can be used to cause mischief, it is automatically removed and feed items will no longer show the embedded content.By default, Awasu removes only those HTML tags that can be used to cause problems on your computer but it can be fine-tuned to either always remove or always allow specific HTML tags and attributes. This can be done either from the Advanced tab of the Program Options dialog (right), which will apply to all your channels, or for individual channels from the Advanced tab of the channel's Properties dialog (left).Enhanced password securityAwasu now stores your passwords in the config files in a more secure manner.
