Home to some of Orange County’s best restaurants, boutique shopping, art galleries, and nightlife, it is hard to get bored during a stop in Laguna Beach.The majority of the sites in Laguna are located along the PCH, making it incredibly convenient to stop here. It is worth noting, however, that finding parking in Laguna can be very difficult and I, therefore, recommend taking advantage of the first parking spot you see.You almost always will have to pay for parking and, especially in the summer, your car will be ticketed or even towed if you park illegally, so I wouldn’t recommend testing your luck.The most famous attraction in Laguna is, not surprisingly, the beach. The main beach in Laguna is not as big as Huntington or even Newport, however, there is a nice promenade area, a park and it’s a great place to find a bench and people-watch for a bit.There are also numerous art galleries and trendy boutiques to browse while in Laguna, making it a great stop to occupy yourself while driving from LA to San Diego.Crystal Cove State Park is a great stop located just north of Laguna Beach4. The Main Beach and think they’ve seen it all, they do not know that this is very much the worst beach in the town. If you want to avoid the tourist crowds and treat yourself to some stunning seaside scenery in the Laguna Beach area, you need to head to Table Rock Beach.Though small, Table Rock is my favourite beach in Orange County but it can be difficult to find and you need to be in decent physical shape in order to reach it. It isn’t very well-marked, but it is located just off of the Pacific Coast Highway in South Laguna, just north of Mission Hospital.Find street parking either on a side street or directly on the PCH and then you have to walk down a number of stairs in order to reach this beach, however, it is well worth it. Because it is kind of difficult to reach and not well advertised, only a few locals really know about it.When I lived here, this was the beach that I most frequently visited and I also always made sure to bring out-of-towners here. I was particularly excited to share it with Michael and I know that he agreed that it was one of the most beautiful beaches in the area.It is blessed with some beautiful rock formations, wonderful surf to gaze at, and some solitude that one craves when visiting the beach.Table Rock Beach is one of the most beautiful in Orange County5. Dana Point HarborIf you’ve had enough Are fairly easy to get to, and offer photo ops of palm trees, sea life, and more.Did you know you can camp on the beach? Try it some time, but be sure you plan ahead because the beaches can get crowded, especially during the summer and holidays.La Jolla CoveFamilies like ours love this beach because of its easy access, plentiful free parking, and the Children’s Pool. There aren’t many places to watch seals and sea lions interact like this outside of a zoo or other controlled setting.La Jolla Cove is home to sea lions who love to bathe in the sun. There are several small beaches along the cove that are perfect for setting up your beach towels for the day. This is one of the best spots to visit near San Diego!Pro Tip: If you can’t find a decent parking spot, park up the street and rent scooters to ride down. It’ll only cost you a few bucks for 15 minutes and can save you hundreds of steps. Scooters are only for grown-ups, though, as most have an age requirement of 18 years or older.Santa Monica PierSanta Monica Pier is a lively historic landmark offering something for the whole family. The castle is unlike anything I’ve seen before here in California, making it quite unique for both locals and tourists. Note the parking lot is about a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal, but there is also a free shuttle that takes you there.What To Do On Culebra?👉 Start by taking a publico (public van service) from the ferry terminal to Flamenco Beach, which is only about three miles away.The publico costs about $5 (cash only) one way.👉 Enjoy a few hours in the sun at Flamenco Beach, which has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in the world for its incredibly soft white sand and turquoise water.Grab a fresh lunch from one of the kiosks near the beach.👉 If you’re interested in amazing snorkeling, walk about 20 minutes from Flamenco to Tamarindo Beach.I saw lots of colorful fish and stingrays here, and others said they spotted sea turtles.✓ Note: You can sometimes negotiate with one of the publicos to take you from Flamenco to Tamarindo and pick you up from Tamarindo later to take you back to the ferry terminal, if you offer to pay a bit more.If you’re looking for a more exclusive trip to Culebra, I recommend this Culubera Beach Day Tour by Catamaran! 👈 Beach scene in Tamarindo Beach. Other Tips:👉 If you’re looking for a quieter beach experience, Playa Zoni is said to be just as beautiful as Flamenco Beach but doesn’t get as crowded since there are no amenities like food kiosks and bathrooms there. It’s just pure nature.👉 If you want the freedom to explore the island at your own pace, you can also rent bikes or Jeeps for the day.Be sure to rent them ahead of time in case they sell out.Where To Stay?You could either drive back to San Juan after taking the return ferry to the main island or stay in the town of Fajardo, only a 9-minute drive from Ceiba.Something to keep in mind: Day 3 includes a tour of El Yunque National Forest, which you can take from San Juan (45 minutes away) or Fajardo (25 minutes away).Here are a few accommodation recommendations in Fajardo:🤑 BUDGET: La Casona Beach House🛌 MID-RANGE: Waterfront Studio at Fajardo🏩 LUXURY: El Conquistador Resort Day 3: Visit El Yunque National Forest and Laguna GrandeOn Day 3, explore the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Park System, El Yunque National Forest. This lush rainforest spans more than 28,000 acres and is filled with hiking trails and waterfalls.👉 If you want to drive to El Yunque and explore on your own, it’s recommended to reserve your spot through Recreation.gov ahead of time, especially if you’re going during the summer high season.👉 The other option is to book a guided tour to El Yunque that departs from San Juan or Fajardo.
