Time to focus. Posted Sept. 7, 2024, 9:22 a.m. Street Fighter 6 has now sold over four million copies, Capcom has announced. The sales milestone comes 15 months after the fighting game went on sale in June 2023 across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.“Thank you for playing and for helping us reach this milestone!” Capcom said. “We hope you're excited for the future of SF6 as we intend to release more content and hold more events!”Capcom had said it aimed for Street Fighter 6 to outsell Street Fighter 5, targeting over 10 million copies sold over the course of its lifetime.“While we do not communicate specific figures for internal budgets, we look to outperform the title’s predecessor, Street Fighter 5, and are aiming for more than 10 million units over the life of the title,” Capcom said. Street Fighter 6, then, has a long way to go before it beats Street Fighter 5’s sales total. To put Street Fighter 6’s sales into context, 1993 SNES hit Street Fighter 2 Turbo sold 4.1 million copies, the seminal Street Fighter 2 sold 6.30 million, and Street Fighter 5 sold 7.60 million.Another interesting comparison is with fighting game rival Mortal Kombat 1, which has sold four million copies since going on sale in September 2023. Mortal Kombat is typically the best-selling fighting game franchise, outselling the likes of Street Fighter and Tekken by some margin. Mortal Kombat 1 hit four million sales around 11 months after launch. Tekken 8 sold two million in a month.Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6 is in the middle of Second 2, with DLC characters Terry and Mai from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters coming soon, and Elena due out winter 2025. Capcom has yet to say what comes after.Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. You can reach Wesley at wesley_yinpoole@ign.com or confidentially at wyp100@proton.me. 2025-04-22Monster Hunter Wilds has officially sold 8 million copies worldwide in just three days, setting a new record for Capcom. The previous record holder was Monster Hunter World, which sold 5 million copies in its first three days and eventually went on to achieve 25 million in lifetime sales. Capcom credits this milestone to the extensive global marketing campaign leading up to the game's release. The company also highlights the success of the open beta trials and the broader appeal of the Monster Hunter series as key factors behind the impressive sales figures. The studio believes the game's dynamically evolving world, stunning visuals, and cross-play functionality have made it particularly attractive to players. Capcom states, “[Monster Hunter Wilds] is set in a dynamically changing world that is in one moment a severe wilderness, swarming with packs of attacking monsters, and in the next transforms into a rich natural environment teeming with life. [The game] features grand, beautiful visual depictions made possible by the RE ENGINE and cross-play, allowing players to enjoy the game together regardless of their game platform.” One factor contributing to Monster Hunter Wilds's success may be its simultaneous release on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S from day one. In contrast, Monster Hunter Rise, a previous entry in the series, was initially released exclusively on Nintendo Switch for a year and did not perform as well as Wilds has. Monster Hunter Wilds Is The Fastest Selling Game In Capcom's History Move Over Leon Kennedy, Monster Hunter Wilds Is Coming Through Monster Hunter Wilds is on track to surpass Monster Hunter World's impressive lifetime sales and has already outpaced the previous entry, Monster Hunter Rise, which sold 4 million copies in its first three days. 2025-04-20And confirmed that I am unable to map any buttons with my minipac. In button config I've got a keyboard 1, a keyboard 1, and my two aimtracks also show up as selections. Standard keys like UDLR, enter and esc are not recognized by the game if produced from the minipac, and when i attempt to register a new button it never responds to the input.I guess it's back to the TaitoX SF4 version until someone figures it out. Logged I just used the patch for the keyboard that was made for STF4 that I got from here and that works fine. It was easiest thing to get it working. Logged People are raving mad on the capcom-unity and steam forums over their keyboards and controllers not working, especially the people with laptops .One guy said 5 out of 7 people he knew on steam had keyboard issues so bad that they couldn't play the game at all. Capcom has to be taking this seriously and working on a patch ASAP. Until then, I guess I'll try the old patch jpS14 mentioned. I'm already using it on SFIV.I only had around an hour to get it installed and tinker with it last night; should be able to spend some time on it this weekend.I really wanted the satisfaction of a game just working right without having to apply someone elses patch.I'm wondering if they'll even bother with PC releases anymore after this debacle. « Last Edit: July 08, 2011, 10:00:29 am by BadMouth » Logged Capcom has to be taking this seriously and working on a patch ASAP. I'm wondering if they'll even bother with PC releases anymore after this debacle. Do you know how many games come out with SERIOUS issues that never get patched? Especially from Capcom. Capcom has a tendency to pump out ports of xbox games, with very little effort put into it. I like PC ports solely because the graphics are always way better on the PC. I assure you they will continue releasing ports. Xbox ports aren't terribly hard to cross over to PC, but recoding it is beyond the budget that they want to spend. The good thing about this issue, is that the config file from the original SF4 will work, so it's just a copy and paste! Logged Apparently patches are on the way: had given up all hope of Super SFIV for PC a long time ago and just found out today that they released the arcade version. After reading this very helpful thread (thanks Delusional29!) I still have a few questions:1. According to the link above there's a "Steam version" -- Is that the same thing as the downloadable version that everyone has bought (from the Capcom site?). I'm not a big fan of the Steam software sitting on my cab.2. I know kalars123 says that the retail disc version does not need to stay in the drive to run the game, but according to him, he used an iso of
2025-04-16Capcom has debuted a new trailer for their upcoming remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, showing off the Director’s Cut of the game featuring Motohide Eshiro and the all-new “Hell” Mode difficulty. In this mode players will experience a challenging new difficulty for only the bravest of samurai, where a single hit means instant death.Originally released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny combines rich narrative and intense demon-slaying combat that made it a standout in the Onimusha franchise. Blending historical figures and supernatural folklore in feudal Japan, the story follows a new hero, master swordsman Jubei Yagyu, who sets out on a quest to defeat Nobunaga Oda and his army of demons. As players engage in intense swordplay, they must also make choices that impact the narrative in unexpected ways. The follow-up to the original Onimusha (which was remastered back in 2019) also features a range of new game mechanics, including an affinity system with Jubei’s allies and branching narrative paths, along with new quality-of-life features such as the ability to swap weapons without pausing the action and the power to choose when Jubei transforms into an Onimusha. Modern improvements like auto-saves, skippable cutscenes, multiple aspect ratios and more are included, along with an in-game gallery expansion with 100 newly added pieces of artwork, and the original soundtrack.Additionally, Capcom revealed a special bonus for players who pre-order Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny or pick up the Onimusha 1+2 Pack bundle early, which will include the “Onimusha 2: Orchestra
2025-04-06In the world today. Interestingly, much of their video game revenue comes from high sales figures for a variety of their titles rather than a few major games that they rely on for microtransaction revenue.Ubisoft: $7 Billion Market CapMuch like EA, Ubisoft is one of those companies that almost always pop up during discussions about high-value acquisitions that could possibly happen in the near future. While their size, revenue, and status still make it unlikely that they will be purchased anytime soon, the Activision Blizzard deal obviously changed that particular conversation in a pretty big way. Konami: $6 Billion Market CapWhile Konami barely bothers to pretend to be interested in publishing and developing “traditional” games anymore, the company’s controversial efforts to expand the scope of their operations in recent years haven’t exactly hurt the bottom line. They’re also still sitting on a treasure trove of valuable video game properties. Square Enix: $5.9 Billion Market CapThey may be slightly lower on this list than some of their big-name competition, but Square Enix’s revenue has slowly been growing over the last 10 years or so. They’re certainly one of the most popular topics in any discussion about which studios could be acquired next. At this time, though, there have been no reliable reports that suggest Square Enix’s leadership is interested in selling the company or that there are any serious buyers out there. Capcom: $4.9 Billion Market CapMuch like Square Enix, there has been a lot of talk about whether or not Capcom could soon be acquired by another major video game company. The studio certainly boasts a compelling blend of legacy titles and modern hits that would surely appeal to potential suitors, but much as it is with a lot of publishers and developers in this market cap range, you do need to consider the incredible number of variables that complicate any potential Capcom deal. CD Projekt: $4.9 Billion Market CapWhile Cyberpunk 2077‘s disastrous launch absolutely hurt CD Projekt’s overall value, the company is still doing quite well for itself in the grand scheme of things. The fairly popular belief is that their value will continue to rise as they fix Cyberpunk 2077 and unveil new projects that will, hopefully, not suffer from that game’s many issues. Sega: $3.6 Billion Market CapWhile Sega is no longer the console manufacturer and industry presence they used to be, they’ve actually done quite well for themselves in recent years thanks to a number of successful new properties and some legacy hits. They’re certainly in the conversation about possible studio acquisitions, though they arguably have been in that conversation for many years now and haven’t sold quite yet. Nintendo vs. PlayStation vs. Xbox: Which Company
