Civilization Revolution Review for PlayStation 3
A True Civilization Revolution! Sid Meier is a video game luminary that has long driven innovation. His games have always been marked by complexity, strategy, and most of all, fun. Civilization Revolution (Civ Rev) for the Xbox 360 and PS3 is no exception. Since 1991, the Civilization franchise has been a cornerstone of PC strategy titles. I remember visiting my brother at Syracuse University as a fourteen-year-old and playing that game for hours upon hours. I was hooked, and there was no turning back. Subsequently, I’ve purchased and played all iterations on PC since and even had a go at Civ II on the original PlayStation. Needless to say, I’m a Civilization diehard. Admittedly, I was a bit skeptical at how my favorite PC game would translate to consoles. The Civ titles are extremely detailed games that take hours and even days to complete. Furthermore, as it happens with RTSs, turn-based strategy games are notoriously bad at getting ported from PC. Fortunately for Civ Rev, Sid Meier is at the helm; he recently oversaw the successful transition of Pirates! (another one of his PC classics) to the Xbox and PSP, so much of my apprehension was allayed by Meier’s and Firaxis’ competence. Thankfully, I was right to trust in their judgment, as Civ Rev is a completely re-imagined Civilization and a must-buy title for strategy fans of all walks. In case you were wondering, Civ Rev is not a direct port of Civ IV, though it definitely shares, borrows, and modifies many of that game’s best ideas. I can’t get into every nuance of how the game is played for the uninitiated, but suffice it to say, Civilization Revolution has players take the role of a great leader of one of 16 civilizations (such as the Americans, Germans, Japanese, Spanish,Civilization Revolution - Playstation 3 - Target
Back to List of units in CivRevThe Legion is a ground unit in Civilization Revolution. The Legion is the most cost-efficient unit throughout the entire Ancient Era. It can be upgraded from its humble predecessor, the Warrior. Though very similar to the Warrior, the Legion is more powerful and effective in battle and can stand up to several waves of Ancient Era attackers when formed into an Army. It's only when all of the civilizations enter the Medieval Era that the Legion will start to become less dominant in battles. As time goes on, other units such as Catapults and Knights may start winning battles against the Legion. This is when a change in tactics is needed.Technical Costs[]The Legion can be purchased fairly early on in the game - normally around the time when the Warrior unit is starting to feel a little too useless against cities. However, the Iron Working technology must be researched before the Legion can be built, so you will have to make good use of Warriors until then.Attacking, Defending and Moving[]The Legion can move along all flat ground like all other ground units. They can only move one tile per turn, just like their predecessor the Warrior. The Legion can also form Armies to maximize power and numbers.Gallery[]Civilization Revolution" data-src=" src=" Roman Legion (left) standing by their city in Civilization RevolutionSee also[]Legion in other games. 2K Elizabeth posted on the 2K forums yesterday that the v1.30 patch for Civilization Revolution is currently being QAed by both Sony and Microsoft, and that a release date will be announced soon. She also posted the change list for the upcoming patch. Lots of the bug fixes and changes are multiplayer related, although there are also other changes such as game of the week improvements and less aggressive AI. As many of you know, we have been working on a comprehensive patch for Civilization Revolution on both the 360 and PS3. The patch is currently being QAed by both Sony and Microsoft, and well be announcing a release date soon. To get you ready for that release, I have the current Change List for 1.30. Please note: This list could change, as the patch is not through final approvals with Sony and Microsoft. If that happens, I will update this list and note any changes.Civilization Revolution 1.30 Change ListNew Game of the Week Leaderboards Added New leaderboards have been added to the Game of the Week competitions. The new leaderboards sort players according to the type of victory they attain. The original leaderboards combine all of the different victory types together and will still be available under the "Combined" tab. By pressing RIGHT or LEFT TRIGGER, you can scroll through the information about each players' victory - their leader, victory type and the year they won. By pressing X, only your friends will be displayed on the leaderboard. By pressing Y, you will display your own best victory on the current Game of the Week for the board you have chosen. Game of the Week Improvements A number of improvements have been made to increase replayability of the Game of the Week. On the Chieftain level the Game of the Week remains the same, but at the Warlord level and beyond the AI civilizations receive new bonuses based on the difficulty level. Using the "Find Me" Option Before the User is Ranked Previously, if a player selected the "Find Me" option on one of the leaderboards before their game had posted, it would simply take them to the end of the list and show them another user. Now, when the player does this, a warning appears.Leaderboards "Find Me" Functionality Improved The "Find Me" functionality on the leaderboards has been improved to allow for a quicker response time and to fix a non-functionality error.Incorrect Civilization Icon Appearing When a Player Loses a Game of the Week Match Previously, players who lost a Game of the Week would occasionally see an entry posted for their name, but with an incorrect civilization icon. It would occur when the player would reach theCivilization Revolution,Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution

2025-04-12Demo struck me as a more stream-lined, fast-paced version that was still quite enjoyable. I'm going to give it a rental next week to see if the impression I got from the demo holds true. Apr 29, 2003 48,920 46 91 #16 I just picked up my copy at Best Buy... they printed the info about the free DLC right on the front of the box, which kind of sucks. I'd have preferred a sticker, but I won't lose sleep over it. I'd just rather not have store-specific stuff sullying the pretty box art. I thought the demo was a pretty good consolization of Civilization. I haven't played since Civ III, and that was a while ago. I've forgotten a lot of stuff, but I felt like I was progressing pretty slowly. But then again, time moves fast in the B.C. turns and slows down later in the game. I just felt like I hadn't researched a lot or built a lot by the point in the game I was at. But I trust that it'll all be right once I learn the game. #17 I'm trying to decide if it is worth buying a 360 or a PS3 to play Civilization Revolution. I lost many hours playing Civ II, but like Queasy I don't have as much time as I used to, so I like the idea of a shorter game. I wish they would give a definitive answer about whether (or when) a wii version will be available.
