Discord Using Too Much CPU - MEFMobile
I have a decently built PC I use for light gaming. I don't play too many resource demanding games which is what has me in a pickle. When running two or three programs at a time (ex. Spotify, Discord, LoL) my computer experiences a sort of "freeze". Music still plays and I can still talk to my friends on discord, however, i can't tab out and all my windows are frozen (this doesn't just happen when gaming). I immediately hit ctrl alt del because this usually acts as an indication as to when the computer is "defrosted" as in i can use it again. I open task manager and always see the CPU usage spiked up to 100 when the computer was frozen. This happened before my clean install. I figured I may have a virus so I made a boot drive and formatted both my SSD and HDD. I went through the steps and reinstalled Win 10 from my USB drive yet the problem persists. My thought is either my CPU or my motherboard has taken a crap on me. I'm leaning towards my motherboard because usually when these freezes happen, my wireless network adapter that is connected via USB resets as well. (I have selective USB suspension disabled in power settings as well as performance mode active). 2025-04-23I re-installed Windows 7 a few days ago on my computer and I've noticed that the Ati drivers are using too much RAM and CPU.There have been instances where ccc.exe would use around 4-5GB of RAM out of a total of 8GB and shoot to ~80% CPU usage. I terminated that process and now atieclxx.exe is using 3.5GB of RAM(cpu is at ~19%). I'm using the latest drivers available. I just re-started Catalyst Control Center and it shot to ~60% CPU usage in a matter seconds. The specifications of my computer are:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz8GB RAM2 x Ati HD3850 512mb using crossfire(I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm only using 1 bridge)CCC 12.6 I've noticed many cases of similar problems while searching the net but I couldn't find a solution.Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?Thanks a lot.Updates:If ccc.exe is terminated atieclxx.exe starts using too much RAM and CPU instead(~20-25% CPU and ~0.5+ GB of RAM)I tried re-installing the drivers as climenole suggested but it didn't fix the problem.Restarting fixes the problem temporarily.EDIT:I disabled Catalyst on startup and stopped AMD External Services utility and everything seems normal. It turns out that stopping AMD External Services Utility would only cause problems if hotkeys or Overclocking were enabled so I just went to msconfig->Services and stopped it.Thanks a lot for helping out.
2025-04-16Have the stuttering issue. Seems to work fine in discord. OBS is the only one that gives me trouble. #12 Seems like we all have different cameras and video capture devices, and the only common denominator is that we are all using Mac computers. So I really hope the OBS dev team can find what's causing the video stutter (do they read this forum?), I'm happy to provide more information if needed. #13 Seems like we all have different cameras and video capture devices, and the only common denominator is that we are all using Mac computers. I'm actually unsure on the best way to report these issues, but we should all do it so it becomes known and fixable. #14 I am also seeing this problem on v30.0.2 with a M1 mac mini. For each individual source, I made a scene for it, so I could nest them in another scene and make them reusable. But I started to get overly complicated and made a nested scene with different macOS Screen Capture sources like only these 4 apps, one for each monitor, and so on. Once I deleted the nested scenes without only a macOS Screen Capture source, I saw everything go back to normal. #18 Anyone have any luck fixing their camera stutter?
