Despite it being only three months since the Dorico 1.2.10 update at the end of February, the development teams in London and Hamburg have pulled out all the stops to deliver an incredible new set of features, and I’m very proud to be able to introduce you to them today.First things first: with the introduction of our new entry-level music notation software, Dorico Elements, Dorico itself is now called Dorico Pro, to reflect its place at the top of the product line. We hope that adding an entry-level version of Dorico to the product line will help put our powerful software into the hands of a new group of musicians.The main differences between Dorico Pro and Dorico Elements concern the number of players that can be in a project – a maximum of 12 in Dorico Elements – and the removal of Engrave mode. With no Engrave mode, there’s no graphical tweaking of items, no editing of vertical or horizontal spacing, and no working with page layout, but Dorico does such an excellent job of handling these things automatically that we believe many users doing simpler work just don’t need those advanced features.
