Hi everyone, I'm Durante (the guy who made DSfix), and this is my first Nexus news post. I'd like to provide some information on what is possible with Dark Souls modding at the moment, and what might be possible in the future. Currently, there are two ways to mod Dark Souls. On the one hand there are program modifications such as DSMfix, the 60 FPS mod and my own DSfix, which work by .dll wrapping. On the other hand, since a few versions DSfix supports overriding any of the textures used by the game with custom ones, which is what most mods on this site are based on.This texture replacement is complete and should allow you to change any texture used in the game, but it is generally not possible to add transparency to textures which did not feature it before. This is due to the way the game separately handles the rendering of opaque and transparent geometry. Also note that most objects in the game have multiple textures, including diffuse color maps, specularity maps and normal maps.Beyond modifying textures and making direct changes using wrapper dlls, there's also a lot of interest in being able to change models. Unfortunately, unlike textures which are loaded using a known library function, and for which the storage format is rather straightforward, it's not currently known which 3D model format is used by the game.That's it for now, I'll keep you up to date on any future developments! 久しぶりに PC から HDD を取り外して他の PC に接続したところすんなり認識できたので、当時遊んでいた PC 版 DARK SOULS の各種データを運よくサルベージすることができました。サルベージしたデータの中に当時各種の Mod ファイル（ 60 fps 化やテクスチャー差し替えファイル ） を導入した状態で DARK SOULS をプレイ中、ゲーム内各地を探索して撮影したスクリーンショットが一緒に残っていたので、そのスクリーンショットを公開するとともに当時の Mod 導入環境を記事として残しておきたいと思います。この記事では、現在公開されている最新バージョンの Mod との比較や相違などは確認しておらず、古い情報を含んでいる場合があります。また、サルベージしたデータの設定情報を元に記憶を頼りにして書き起こしている部分があるため、一部内容が間違っている可能性があります。 当時使用していた PC の CPU が Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 という今となっては非力な CPU を使ってゲームをしていましたが、「DSFix」（詳細は 後述） を入れフレームレート上限解除とグラフィックス改善ファイルを導入しても、一部のマップを除きほぼ全編 60 fps でゲームをプレイすることができました。実は旧 PC の VGA は現在の PC 環境でも使用している 「GeForce GTX 570」 を挿していたのですが、推奨環境（参考リンク） の CPU が 4 コア以上のためか、この VGA を使っても fps が落ちるところが多々ありました。最近主流となっている PC スペックであれば、闇雲に激重 Mod を入れない限りその辺の心配はないかと思います。「DSFix」 は PC 版 DARK SOULS をプレイするにあたって Mod 導入の有効化のほか、30 → 60 fps 化、グラフィックスの改善、各種調整、スクリーンショットの保存、その他細かい設定が可能となった DARK SOULS 専用ツールです。本家ファイルは海外の Nexus と DSfix 作者のブログ で公開されています。ただ、日本語版に適用すると不具合があるとのことなので、下記の Wiki サイトに公開されている有志が作成した DSfix をダウンロードをして導入することになります。今回は旧 PC でプレイした時の DARK SOULS のスクリーンショット公開するにあたっての各種設定情報の確認がメインとなるので、DSfix の導入方法は割愛します。以降、旧 PC で使用していた DSfix （バージョン不明） で設定していた値を公開するにあたって、DSfix 最新バージョン ver2.2 日本語版の初期値と異なる設定をしていた項目のみを比較できるように取り上げています。ちなみに DSfix にて設定した内容によっては、ゲーム中の画面に一部ノイズのような線が入るなど描画画像が破綻することがあります。覚えている範囲では画面解像度を DSfix で指定した場合だったかと思います。DSfix の機能の一つ、スクリーンショット保存時の画像形式は BMP ファイルのみとなっており、スクリーンショットを撮るたびに約 8 MB 程の容量が必要です。その容量のためかわかりませんが、スクリーンショット保存時にゲーム画面が一瞬止まるところがありますので、タイミングによっては狙って撮影するのはやや難しいかもしれません。DSfix.ini - Graphics Options セクションDSfix.ini ファイルにある解像度に関する設定です。################################################################################ Graphics Options################################################################################ internal rendering resolution of the game# higher values will decrease performancerenderWidth 1920renderHeight 1080行頭にある # はコメントアウトとなっています。初期値はいわゆるフル HD の解像度になっており、こちらは特に設定は変更していません。実は当方が使用している液晶モニターが WUXGA （1920×1200 ピクセル、アスペクト比：16:10 ） となっているので、「renderHeight」 は 「1080」 ではなく 「1200」 にするべきなのですが、変更してもゲーム内解像度に変わりがなかったため（たしか縦 1080 ピクセル分まで表示され、残りの 120 ピクセル分上下に黒帯が表示）、初期値のままにしています。ちなみにこの状態で DSfix の機能を使ってスクリーンショットを保存した場合は上下の黒帯はカットされます。DSfix.ini - Anti Aliasing セクションDSfix.ini ファイルにある アンチエイリアス の設定項目です。設定値を高くすると ジャギー が目立たなくなりますが、その分ゲーム中の PC 負荷も増えます。DSfix ver2.2 日本語版用 初期値############# Anti Aliasing# AA toggle and quality setting# 0 = off (best performance, worst IQ)# 1 = low # 2 = medium# 3 = high# 4 = ultra (worst performance, best IQ)aaQuality 0「aaQuality」 の初期値は 「0」 のため、設定がオフになっています。旧 PC DSfix 設定値############# Anti Aliasing# AA toggle and quality setting# 0 = off (best performance, worst IQ)# 1 = low # 2 = medium# 3 = high# 4 = ultra (worst performance, best IQ)aaQuality 2ゲーム中のパフォーマンスがあまり落ちないところを大体見当して 「aaQuality」 を 「2」（Medium） に設定していました。DSfix.ini - Ambient Occlusion セクションDSfix.ini ファイルにある アンビエント オクルージョン の設定項目です。DSfix ver2.2 日本語版用 初期値############# Ambient Occlusion# Enable and set the strength of the SSAO effect (all 3 settings have the same performance impact!)# 0 = off# 1 = low# 2 = medium# 3 = highssaoStrength 0# Set SSAO scale# 1 = high quality (default)# 2 = lower quality, lower impact on performance# 3 = lowest quality, lowest impact on performancessaoScale 1「ssaoStrength」 の初期値は 「0」（オフ） 、「ssaoScale」 の初期値は 「1」（High Quality） となっています。旧 PC DSfix 設定値############# Ambient Occlusion# Enable and set the strength of the SSAO effect (all 3 settings have the same performance impact!)# 0 = off# 1 = low# 2 = medium# 3 = highssaoStrength 2# Set SSAO scale# 1 = high quality (default)# 2 = lower quality, lower impact on performance# 3 = lowest quality, lowest impact on performancessaoScale 2「ssaoStrength」 を 「2」（Medium） に変更して有効化するとともに、「ssaoScale」 を 「1」（High Quality） から一つ設定を下げて 「2」（Lower Quality） にしていました。DSfix.ini - Depth of field セクションDSfix.ini ファイルにある 被写界深度（Depth of Field - DoF） の設定です。DSfix ver2.2 日本語版用 初期値############# Depth of field# Depth of Field resolution override, possible values:# 0 = no change from default (DoF pyramid starts at 512x360)# 540 = DoF pyramid starts at 960x540# 810 = DoF pyramid starts at 1440x810# 1080 = DoF pyramid starts at 1920x1080# 2160 = DoF pyramid starts
