January 23, 2014, 6:31pm 1 My NIS Safe Search has come up missing on my browser. I did a search for safe search and looked at all the posts but didn't see anything that gave me a clue as to how to get it back. One post said to uninstall NIS and reinstall. That seem's to me to be a lot of work.I looked under settings and nothing there. I right click on the Norton tool bar and the drop down menu does not show NIS safe search. Is there anything I can do, short of uninstalling/reinstalling NIS?If not, I'll just use Google (not my desire). Thanks for any insight Hi yank.Sorry for omitting that info.Version is 21.1.0.18I'm using IE 11, Ver 11, Win 7 64-bit.I had the safe search directly under the Norton tool bar before I departed overseas for a funeral and when I came back and "fired-up" my computer, it isn't there. The drop-down menu only shows Menu, Favorites, Command, Status, Bing, Norton, and Google bars with Lock the tool bars and Show tabs on a separate row.If you need additional info, please adviseThanks for your quick response DaveH January 23, 2014, 8:55pm 3 The setting is in the identity safe program now. Thanks to peterweb for the info and screenshot:Click on the Vault is Open link on the Toolbar. What is WordPress safe mode? This method enables a safe mode for WordPress. It allows you to view your site temporarily with certain plugins disabled/enabled as well as switching to another theme.A WordPress safe mode plugin is particularly useful for debugging/troubleshooting WordPress issues without affecting the rest of your site visitors. WordPress safe mode will completely disable all the plugins and activate the default theme temporarily for a single page view. It will save your time in certain scenarios. How to use WP safe mode plugin:Refer to the below steps to use WP safe mode plugin.Step 1:Login to your WordPress Dashboard.Step 2:Goto Plugin -> Add new. Search “WP Safe Mode” plugin.Step 3:Install and activate the plugin “WP Safe Mode”.Step 4:Goto the WP Safe Mode. The WP Safe Mode loader will attempt to install itself automatically. If something goes wrong, you’ll be asked to visit the settings page for manual installation instructions.WP Safe Mode requires a loader file to be installed which allows us to control the loading of WordPress plugins and themes.Click “view manual installation instructions” and do the steps as mentioned in the instruction.Manual Installation Instructions:If for whatever reason you cannot install the loader automatically (or you prefer to install it yourself), here is how you can do it manually:Create a new folder calledwp-safe-mode in /home/username/public_html/wp-content.Copy the loader file/home/ username/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-safe-mode/bootstrap/wp-safe-mode-bootstrap.php (from this plugin folder) into the newly created folder.Add this line of code below the first line (if( !defined(‘WPMU_PLUGIN_DIR’) ) define( ‘WPMU_PLUGIN_DIR’, dirname(__FILE__).’/wp-content/wp-safe-mode’ ); //WP Safe ModeRevisit this settings page, for confirmation of installation status. After installing the loader File, Specify the theme, plugins, IP addresses for the Safe Mode.Features:Specify the WordPress theme to use when the Safe Mode is activated.Specify the plugins to enable/disable when the Safe Mode is activated.Specify the IP address who will view your site in the Safe Mode.Once Specified, Click on “Save Settings”.Step 5:After Saving the Settings, Enable/disable the Safe Mode for your website.Step 6:You can Enable/disable the Safe Mode from the admin bar.Although Safe Mode certainly cannot fix every kind of site crash, it may be able to save you some time in certain scenarios. How To Enable Safe Search On Chrome
Steal your password, or when you download some harmful file, Chrome will send these URLs, including bits of that page content, to Google. In this level, you will need to enable the following feature by yourself and these are not enabled by default.a) Help improve security on the web for everyone– When you enable this toggle, Chrome sends URLs of some pages that you visit, system info and some page content to Google, that helps in discovering new threats and protecting everyone else on the internet.b) Warn you if passwords are exposed in a data breach– You will also need to enable this feature in this setting so that Chrome checks your passwords regularly. By enabling this, your passwords and usernames are also encrypted, so anyone including Google can’t read them.3. No protection (not recommended)This level of safe browsing is not recommended to anyone. You’ll still get Safe Browsing protection when you choose “no protection” such as in Google services including Gmail and Google Search, but Google will not protect you against dangerous or phishing websites, downloads as well as extensions.Which Safe Browsing Level is Best For You?As you can see in the last option, there will be no protection at all. This means Chrome will not warn you when you visit a dangerous website and you will be more prone to malware and other attacks. In the second option, you’ll get standard protection but you’ll have to enable two security features which is still not the best level of safety. So, we recommend you to use the first one i.e. Enhanced protection. This will protect you against all dangerous websites, downloads, as well as extensions. This will also warn you about password breaches and send data to Google automatically. This was all about safe browsing in Google Chrome. Now you also know which level is the best for you to stay safe online. If you like the article, please share the word with others.
