StefanB April 30, 2013, 11:47am 2 I have the same problem with Avast 8 and Autohotkey 1.1.9.4.Warning about Win32:Evo-gen[susp] if I try to compile the ahk-script with Ahk2Exe.exe. And any AHK script that is compiled to an executable will get the same warning. On my desktop I got around it by adding an exclusion to the file system shield, but on my laptop that does not work, and I have to turn the protection off completely to use the executables! What is FileRepMalware?According to Avast and AVG anti-virus suites, FileRepMalware is a malicious file and a potential threat to computers. At time of research, a test file was a fake KMSPico - a third party Windows OS activation tool. Previously, this malware was called "Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]".The "Win32" part indicates that the file is developed for the Windows operating system and, therefore, even if present, does not pose any threat to devices that run the Mac operating system. The "Evo-gen" part indicates a generic classification of trojan-type files.Although it is not confirmed, FileRepMalware might be a trojan. As mentioned above, FileRepMalware was proliferated with a fake KMSPico tool, which, rather than illegally activating an OS, downloads and installs adware.Potentially unwanted adware-type programs (PUPs) deliver intrusive advertisements (coupons, banners, pop-ups, and so on) and record sensitive information. Ads are delivered using various tools (e.g., "virtual layers") that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, most conceal underlying website content, significantly diminishing the web browsing experience. Furthermore, displayed advertisements often lead to malicious websites and can even run scripts that download/install malware. Clicking them might result in high-risk computer infections.Potentially unwanted programs are also known to gather various information that includes personal data. Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, Internet service providers (ISPs) geo-locations, URLs visited, queries entered into search engines, pages viewed, keystrokes, and other collected data is later shared with third parties to generate revenue. These people generate revenue by misusing confidential details. Therefore, information tracking can lead to serious privacy

USB 3.2 Gen 1 ( 5 Gbps ) drives like the Samsung T5 EVO family. On the right, we have families like the Crucial X6. It is a USB 3.2 Gen 2 ( 10 Gbps ) drive, but the 500 GB model employs a SATA SSD behind the Gen 2 bridge, capping it at 540 MBps. The other capacities use the Phison U17 native flash controller. While it also has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 upstream interface, the controller characteristics and use of QLC NAND restrict them to sub-800 MBps speeds even under the best of conditions. At the highest end, we have the 2.5 GBps-class Thunderbolt 3 drives. Between these two extremes, vendors have provided consumers with multiple options for 1 GBps-class, and 2 GBps-class PSSDs.Another factor influencing consumer choice is the physical size of the PSSD. Some scenarios dictate the use of a thumb drive, and thanks to technological advancements, we now have affordable high-performance SSDs in that form-factor. 2024 Q1 PSSD Recommendations - PSSD Category Basis (as of March 8, 2024) PSSD Category Drive Family Capacity $/GB Purchase Link SSD in a Stick (UFD) Kingston DataTraveler Max 1000 0.09 $90 (Amazon) $94 (Newegg) [ 9¢ / GB ] Cabled External Drive Crucial X6 2000 0.05 $150 (Amazon) $108 (Newegg) [ 5.4¢ / GB ] There is always a trade-off between performance and power consumption in any computing category, and PSSDs are no exception. Bridge-based solutions provide more flexibility and, depending on the SSD behind it, can provide better performance compared to native flash controllers (which are almost always DRAM-less). However, the latter has the advantage of lower BOM cost (translates to lower consumer pricing). Replacing a two-chip solution (SSD controller + bridge) with a single native flash controller brings power consumption benefits as well. This may also influce consumer choice while selecting a PSSD for purchase. 2024 Q1 PSSD Recommendations - Controller Basis (as of March 8, 2024) Controller Category Drive Family Capacity $/GB Purchase Link Native Crucial X6 2000 0.05 $150 (Amazon) $108 (Newegg) [ 5.4¢ / GB ] Bridge Samsung T5 EVO 4000 0.06 $250. im just curious what is the difference between malware gen and evo gen. they both heuristic detection or hips detection?
