Importing bookmarks: not all bookmarks are imported - Opera
Last edited by admin For the moment, the Bookmark Importer is made for importing only bookmarks in Opera Presto (the old Opera) (latest version of it is Opera 12.17). Now We are currently at Opera 22. My understanding is that Opera is working on making the Bookmarks Importer work with 3rd Party Browsers, like Firefox. I know it was initially being worked on for Opera 23, but at this point, I don't know whether that will be implemented in Opera 23 or later. So, the only way to get Firefox bookmarks into Opera at this moment is to piggyback on Opera 12.17 -- that is, get the Firefox bookmarks into that browser, and then to use the Bookmarks importer in Opera 22. If you're going to do that, I would suggest completely uninstalling Opera 22, and then installing Opera 12.17 first. Once using Opera 12.17, click on File, Import and Export, and then, Import Firefox Bookmarks. After you import Firefox Bookmarks into Opera 12.17, then re-install Opera 22. Hopefully at that point the Bookmarks Importer will not be greyed out. Because the Importer has been on occasion a bit tempermental, here's a thread that gives suggestions. Leocg's comment in the thread is important, and it is based on that comment that I suggest completely uninstalling Opera 22 first, and then installing Opera 12.17 (to accomplish the importing of bookmarks from Firefox). in Opera 22 (after the reinstallation), remember to activate the Personal Bookmarks Bar. Go Ctrl P (settings), and put a check in Show the Bookmarks Bar. And of course, click on the Opera Menu, More Tools, and the Bookmarks Importer. I should only have to hit import and it should be that easy. christoph142 last edited by It's not yet implemented. Import is coming in Opera 26 ( Menu -> More tools -> Import bookmarks and settings... )So if you want it the easy way just hold off for about 6 weeks until Opera 26 gets released. Is there any way to import into Opera bookmarks exported from another browser and preserve the bookmarks sub folder structure of the source? My Firefox installation has tons of bookmarks all organised into folders - manual re-organisation would be out of the question.Opera 60. k1llua @Guest last edited by @redsnapper have you tried importing those Firefox bookmarks unto Opera?because most browser export bookmarks as HTML and folder structure from Firefox should be preserved (they're pretty much similar). unless its some Firefox specific feature (like speed-dial folders in Opera) wont be directly displayed but you can always find the stuff that wasn't categorized under the bookmarks manager A Former User @k1llua last edited by @k1llua I managed to get bookmarks across by sorting them in FF and then going via IE. Not sure why it didnt want to work straight FF html export and import to Opera - maybe html file got corrupted somehow. Now I have bookmarks in Opera (under Imported folder) there does not seem to be any effective bookmark manager (like FF) to organiise bookmark structure tree i.e. no facility to mark and move groups of selected bookmarks/folders - or am I missing something? Maybe an extension is needed? leocg Moderator Volunteer @Guest last edited by You should be able to do it in the bookmarks page: Menu > Bookmarks > Bookmarks or Crtl Shift B or click on the heart icon in the sidebar. A Former User @leocg last edited by @leocg In the bookmarks folder tree you can only drag a single folder. Likewise
