Join me as I look at how to reset your Ubuntu password within WSL in Windows 10. Reset Ubuntu Password in WSL on Windows 10 I recently wanted to install something within my Ubuntu shell and could not remember the password, and thought I was stuck. However, I found a way of resetting it quickly and easily. Open Bash on Ubuntu to take note of your Linux username (note that this may or may not match your Windows username)Close your bash session; you must do this for the following commands to work. Open a Windows command prompt as AdminEnter ubuntu config --default-user root to set the default user as root.💡If you find ubuntu is unrecognised as a command, try ubuntu2004 or swap the numbers to represent your version. 5. Now open your Ubuntu shell again. This time you'll notice you are logged in as root. 6. You now want to change the password of your account type, passwd [username] and follow the instructions to reset your password. Close the Ubuntu shell. 7. Now, you want to change your Ubuntu shell to make your profile the default user. Within a Windows command prompt, run the following command ubuntu config --default-user [username]When you open your Ubuntu shell, your profile will defaultto yours, and the password will be reset. Enjoy!

You can find the Snap Store here. Because I know someone will mention it, yes, you can install the Snap Store Snap package and it will run on a Chromebook. However, it takes forever to launch. It throws all kinds of errors and I have not been able to sign into the Snap Store once it launches which prevents you from actually downloading Snaps with the install button. If you have found a fix or workaround for this, please shoot me an email or drop a comment below. I’d love to get it working. To sum up, I wouldn’t recommend using Snaps on Chrome OS unless it was your only option to install an application. There are a lot of alternatives out there for most apps and until Snaps run smoother on Chrome OS, it’s just more trouble than it’s worth. Either way, it was fun and interesting to finally get this working. See you next time when we explore how to change your default container from Debian to Ubuntu. I figured I should share this with everyone else. I do not own ACE yet, so I just used the trial and never activated it, 'cause I didn't want to. I did however try VX and it works fully; played tested it and everything. Also, you must use the latest Ubuntu upgrade, "12.04 LTS". This also allowed me to install VX on Ubuntu as well. Since I have my full copies on Windows, I used trials for this. You could try 11.10, but nothing before that seems to work. This is but one way to fix the DRM errors, DirectX errors and sound errors when installing on Ubuntu. It might also go slower than it does on Windows (for me, it runs FLAWLESSLY except when first executing the exe), but if you are desperate, you won't care much I think. But the good news is, each and every Ubuntu update and WINE update makes this more and more possible! For example, CS4 and CS5 are usable on Ubuntu now, though I have not tested it myself.Sometimes this doesn't fix it for everyone. It solved it for me, and four other friends of mine. I think I found a "reason" as to why. Sounds cards and PC info. I really don't know how to explain this, but sometimes (I have three Desktops, one of which this didn't work on) PCs in Ubuntu won't accept some of the WINE installations. Though you are welcomed to try installing it else where to see if. 3) Evaluating Software Requirements Evaluate your software requirements to determine which distribution meets your needs. Linux Mint comes with multimedia Codecs, and its pre-installed software may be advantageous if you prefer comprehensive software selection. In contrast, Ubuntu's streamlined default software, coupled with its extensive software repository. This allows for greater flexibility in choosing and installing specific applications. Consider whether you have any software dependencies or specific application requirements, and choose the distribution that provides easy access to the software you need for your tasks or projects. 4) Weighing Community Support And Resources Consider the strength of community support and available resources when making your decision. Linux Mint has a passionate community with active forums and user-driven support, which allows for quick resolution of issues and knowledge-sharing. On the other hand, Ubuntu, backed by Canonical, offers extensive official support, documentation, and resources, making it ideal for users who prefer official channels. Evaluate the level of support you require and the importance of community-driven development, as this can greatly impact your experience and ability to troubleshoot any challenges you may encounter. 5) Analysing Security And Stability Analyse the security and stability aspects of Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Mint's conservative approach to software updates and rigorous testing contributes to its reputation for stability. Ubuntu, with its more forward-looking nature, provides regular updates and the latest security patches and features. Consider your priorities regarding stability and security, especially if you require a reliable and secure operating system for critical tasks or sensitive data. Research the security measures each distribution implements and choose the one that aligns with your security requirements.
