Out of the box, your iPhone’s default Weather app supports both Celsius and Fahrenheit for depicting how hot or cold it is outside. While these might be two of the most popular units of measure concerning temperature, they’re certainly not the only ones.Another unit that you don’t see very often unless you dabble in the world of science is Kelvin, and a free jailbreak tweak called 4000 Degrees Kelvin by iOS developer Sniper_GER unlocks this temperature unit throughout iOS.Shown above, you can see how the Weather app looks both before and after installing 4000 Degrees Kelvin. From our example, we can observe that 36º Fahrenheit equates to 275 Kelvin. Furthermore, the tweak also converts each of the values for the weather forecasts coming up.As you might have discerned already, we said “throughout iOS” instead of “in the Weather app,” and that’s because 4000 Degrees Kelvin turns Kelvin into the primary unit of measure throughout the entire operating system. With 4000 Degrees Kelvin installed, you can glance at iOS’ Weather widget and even check the Weather display in the default Maps app; you should now see Kelvin in these places too:By now you might be wondering why such a tweak exists, and admittedly, I did too at first. After consulting with the developer, I learned that Apple baked support for Kelvin conversions right into iOS 10. On the other hand, none of Apple’s default apps take advantage of this code, so it stays dormant under the hood.4000 Degrees Kelvin merely exploits this very particular piece of code, compelling iOS to apply its Kelvin conversion function to every weather display you can find in iOS.If you aren’t familiar with Kelvin and want to learn more about it, then you can use this free unit converter to get a better understanding of how temperature units correlate to one another. Once you get a feel for it, you might even come to like it.ProTip: In case you didn’t already catch on, the developer also informs us that the name “4000 Degrees Kelvin” is a reference to the original Portal game.4000 Degrees Kelvin isn’t available from any of Cydia’s default repositories, so you’ll need to add the FESTIVAL repository to your device to download it on your jailbroken device. You can follow these steps to do that:1) Launch the Cydia app and go to the Sources tab.2) Tap on the Edit button and then tap on the Add button.3) In the text field of the pop-up that appears, type in the following repository URL: Tap on the Add Source button and wait for the repository to load into Cydia. After completing all four steps, you can find and install 4000 Degrees Kelvin by searching Cydia or checking the JavaScript: Kelvin Weather //Kelvin Weather eg1 const kelvin = 273; // comberting kelvin to celsius ; Celsius by subtracting 273 const celsius = kelvin - 273; // this will calculate the fahrenheit let The lowering clouds indicate that the front is drawing near, giving a period of rain in the next 12 hours. Stratus is a low continuous cloud sheet covering the sky. Stratus forms by gently rising air, or by a mild wind bringing moist air over a cold land or sea surface. Stratus cloud is thin, so while conditions may feel gloomy, rain is unlikely, and at most will be a light drizzle. Stratus is identical to fog, so if you’ve ever been walking in the mountains on a foggy day, you’ve been walking in the clouds.5) LenticularOur final two cloud types will not help you predict the coming weather, but they do give a glimpse of the extraordinarily complicated motions of the atmosphere. The interaction of wind with mountains and other surface features is one of the many details that have to be represented in computer simulators to get accurate predictions of the weather.6) Kelvin-HelmholtzAnd lastly, my personal favourite. 2025-03-26Is the base unit of Thermodynamic temperature measurement in the SI.Lord William Kelvin was a Scottish physicist whose concept of absolute zero was established in 1854. He used this concept to establish the Kelvin scale. The Kelvin scale has the same unit as the Celsius scale, and it resets the zero point at absolute zero: -273.15.What is Rankine?Rankine is a temperature scale, which is equilevant to kelvin scale, as they both are defined in absolute zero. The temperature difference between a given Rankine degree and the Celsius degree is equal to one Fahrenheit degree. How many Fahrenheits is 1 Celsius degree?A 1 degree Celsius temperature change is equivalent to a 1.8 degree Fahrenheit temperature change. How many Celsius degrees is 1 Fahrenheit?A 1 degree Fahrenheit temperature change is equivalent to a 0.5555 degree Celsius temperature change. What is normal body temperature?Your body is like a little furnace. It constantly puts out heat. When it gets too hot, it signals that something is not right.Your body temperature is different from that of other individuals. It could be a degree different than your normal temperature. For an adult, the average body temperature ranges from 97 to 99 degrees Fahrenheit. In children and babies, it can range from 97.8 to 100.4.Normal body temperatureWhat is the Absolute zero?Absolute zero is the temperature where a thermodynamic system has the least energy. This concept was suggested by the behavior of gases as they contract during low pressure.Absolute zero is equivelant to 0 Kelvins. What is the coldest place on earth?Eastern Antarctic Plateau, Antarctica Data collected by satellites from 2004 to 2016 suggested that air temperatures in the Eastern Antarctic Plateau could reach -94 degrees Celsius. Researchers believe this extreme weather phenomenon could cause temperatures to get worse.Article authorAngelica MillerAngelica is a psychology student and a content writer. It is important for travelers to familiarize themselves with local temperature scales in order not to pack the wrong clothes and poorly anticipate weather conditions. Knowing how to convert temperature scales in different recipes ensures culinary success. Temperature conversion is done everyday in science and industry for correct measurements and experiments. The Fahrenheit ScaleNamed after its creator, the Fahrenheit Scale, which is popularly used in America There are differences between this scale and the Celsius and Kelvin scales. On the Fahrenheit scale, water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F. To convert Fahrenheit to Celsius (the metric scale used globally), use the formula:°C = ( 5/9)(°F-32),Essentially, converting Fahrenheit to Celsius means subtracting 32 from the temperature in Fahrenheit and then multiplying by 5/9. This transformation is needed when you face weather forecasts or recipes from countries that use CelsiusThe Celsius ScaleThe Celsius scale, also known as the Centigrade scale, is the most popular temperature unit globally. It's the norm for scientific investigation and is easy as well to learn. At this initial stage, water freezes at 0 °C and boils at 100 °C under normal spectral pressure. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, use the formula:°F = (°C × 1.8) + 32To convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit, multiply the temperature by 9/5 and then add 32. This conversion is necessary when you want to understand temperature readings or recipes given in Fahrenheit. The Kelvin ScaleThe fundamental scale used in scientific research is born out of absolute zero, the
