Sync with iPod - MediaMonkey forum
Moderator: Gurus wetdawg1 ipod? Can anyone answer my question from before? How do I sync MM with the iPod? The file/directory patterns in the sync options don't match the structure the iPod needs. Level the volume using MP3Gain (if you're so inclined). Create as many different playlists within Mediamonkey as you need to allow you to switch songs to and from the iPod.Then, export the playlists to .m3u files in a directory that is synched by Ephpod. If you're using MM Gold, download the script for exporting playlists here: may sound complex, but it now works flawlessly for me with almost no maintenance involved (and beats the crap out of MusicMatch Jukebox). I just move m3u files in an out of the synched directory to define which music will be copied to the iPod.Let me know if you have any questions.Joey rusty Posts: 8790 Joined: Tue Apr 29, 2003 3:39 am Location: Montreal, Canada Using MM with iPod Post by rusty » Tue Apr 20, 2004 8:55 am Furant,Thanks for the info--I wasn't aware that iPod could be mounted as a usb mass storage device. One note that might be of interest: MM 2.2 adds MP3Gain style volume leveling for MP3 files. There's still a bug being worked out in this functionality, but it'll be fixed by the time the release candidate is posted.-Rusty FurAnt Posts: 165 Joined: Thu Jul 17, 2003 3:38 pm Location: Atlanta, GA Post by FurAnt » Tue Apr 20, 2004 1:07 pm Thanks Rusty. I was aware that you were implementing replay gain leveling akin to what MP3Gain does, I just haven't tried it out yet.If you have the iPod formatted for Windows, it is recognized immediately when plugged in (either via USB 2.0 or firewire) and seen just as an external harddrive. What Mediamonkey could do to make my life (and other iPod users' lives) easier is:1. Build some sort of direct support for iPod - similar to what EphPod does today (perhaps you could even partner with EphPod, hint, hint)-OR-2. Allow for dynamic maintenance of M3U files on the harddrive. Sync with them.Add Album Art to the tags in the tracks. Sync again. Now you have both the "with art" and "without art" copies of tracks on your MP3 player. This was on an iPod classic. The "delete tracks not in the library" option was on in the MM sync options.Comments

2025-03-26IPod classic 160 gb MediaMonkey version: 4.1.26.1896Dear all,I own an ipod classic 160 gb with about 13.000 songs.I wanted to back up this ipod to my spare ipod (that I recently bought).MediaMonkey did read my original ipod and I could select all of my 13.000 songs and used the copy function to copy all these songs to my spare ipod. The copy action took a while but it looked pretty straightforward and all seemed to go well. After copying, MediaMonkey listed all the songs on my original ipod and on my spare ipod. However, the ipods themselves do not display any songs. Apparantly somethig went wrong which I can not understand. Both ipods do have the files of the songs on their harddrives but these can not be played. The files are named XXXX.m4aiTunes also does not display any songs on both ipods.Strange thing is: MediaMonkey still can read the 13000 songs and play them.Is their a way to correct my original ipod so the 13000 songs can be played?Help is appreciated very much.Thank you.Paul
