Earlier this year, Tate pleaded guilty to bribery and corruption charges.Investigators described Tate as the brains behind a scheme that began in the spring of 2004 when Tate tried to establish relationships with people at several Memphis topless clubs. The deal: Tate would take money to tip off the clubs about police raids.Tate was caught almost as soon as he made the first contact by a former FBI agent who worked at Platinum Rose. The man started recording their conversations.The Feds were on to Tate immediately. Tate recruited another police officer, Billy Scott, to transport prostitutes and drugs to Tunica casinos. They didn't know the so-called prostitutes were undercover FBI agents.Billy Scott recruited another former MPD Officer John Vaughan to help.Then Tate's girlfriend, topless dancer April Veach, conspired with Tate and Vaughan to rob the home of pro wrestler Jerry Lawler. Veach had been in Lawler's home and told Tate he kept 200 thousand dollars in a juke box. During this time the feds were monitoring and recording conversations from Tate's cell phone.The trio was arrested the day before the robbery was planned.April Veach and former Memphis Police officers Billy Scott and John Vaughn were charged along with Tate.Veach, Scott and Vaughn have all plead guilty to the charges against them and are currently awaiting sentencing. MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Three women have died and six other people were injured after a fiery crash at the intersection of Kirby Parkway and East Raines Road in Hickory Hill on Tuesday evening.Police scanner traffic and surveillance video obtained by FOX13 showed the moments just before the crash and the aftermath.The scanner began with a call for a black Chrysler, but it was not immediately clear why police were looking for the driver.RELATED: 16-year-old charged in stolen car crash that killed 3, injured 6Minutes later, an officer was heard saying, “He wrecked out. Start the fire department.”Surveillance video showed a black car plowing into cars at an intersection and then a ball of fire. Less than 3 seconds after, the blue lights of police cars were seen driving into frame.An officer continued, “We got one down, we got one, two, three, four, five, six vehicles involved in this accident.”The scanner traffic then called for the Memphis Fire Department again. But then, there was a call for a baby, now identified as a 2-year-old girl, stuck in the car.“We got a baby in the car, we got a baby trapped, we got a baby trapped,” an officer said. Another officer responded, “Break that (expletive). Break it." That fatal pursuit in November led the Memphis City Council to ask the department about what MPD’s pursuit policy is.Department leaders told the Memphis City Council that the policy is 13 pages and that steps need to be taken before a pursuit can begin.
