Use query labels in Synapse SQL Article02/18/2022 In this article -->Included in this article are essential tips for using query labels in Synapse SQL.NoteServerless SQL pool doesn't support labelling queries. What are query labelsDedicated SQL pool supports a concept called query labels. Before going into any depth, let's look at an example:SELECT *FROM sys.tablesOPTION (LABEL = 'My Query Label');The last line tags the string 'My Query Label' to the query. This tag is helpful since the label is query-able through the DMVs. Querying for labels provides a mechanism for locating problem queries and helps to identify progress through an ELT run.Good naming conventions are most helpful. For example, starting the label with PROJECT, PROCEDURE, STATEMENT, or COMMENT uniquely identifies the query among all the code in source control. The following query uses a dynamic management view to search by label:SELECT *FROM sys.dm_pdw_exec_requests rWHERE r.[label] = 'My Query Label';NoteIt is essential to put square brackets or double quotes around the word label when querying. Label is a reserved word and causes an error when it is not delimited.Next stepsFor more development tips, see development overview. --> Feedback Additional resources In this article

2025-04-03Frequently Asked Questions Artwork Can you help me with my custom product label design? Yes! Please visit our Design Services page to learn more information and request a quote! We offer design services for both updating existing label designs, as well as creating new custom labels.A label is a vital aspect to your products success or failure. It is what captures a customer’s attention and helps to guide decision making in the buying process. Our professional graphic design team here at Wizard Labels can help make your label dreams a reality! Whether you need to refresh your current label design, or start a design from the beginning stages, our team can help. How does CMYK vs. RGB color mode impact my product label designs? Which color mode should my graphic designer use when designing my product labels? That’s easy – the answer is CMYK!Our digital presses print in “Four Color Process” mode – often called CMYK because it represents the four primary colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black – the “K” stands for “key,” which means black in printers-speak). These four colors are then mixed in various combinations to give you an unlimited variety of color choices. Our Four Color Process printing is fundamentally similar to how your desktop printer works too – although our industrial presses are probably a little more expensive (like, how does $1Million-plus per press sound?).In contrast, RGB (Red, Green, and Blue) is a three-color combination used by computer monitors and TV screens. Since our digital presses use CMYK mode, printing a product label that’s designed in RGB mode can result in significant color distortion. It’s therefore critical that your designer create your artwork files in CMYK mode to maintain accurate colors for your product label.Free tip – if your designer doesn’t know the difference between
2025-04-10Be required to list both per CA state law – see earlier blog post on this topic)The next topic we discussed was the use of vineyard names on a wine label. Rob wanted to know about listing more than one vineyard site on a back label. This would be acceptable to the TTB. They would require the vineyard source information to be listed in either of the following formats. Either the vineyard sources would be listed by name in descending order OR each vineyard would be listed by name along with it’s actual percent in the blend. This is different from listing a vineyard name on a wine’s front label. In that situation, use of a vineyard name becomes what is known as a “vineyard designate” and then per TTB requirements the wine blend must contain at least 95% of its grapes from that specific vineyard site. These are fun and satisfying conversations for me to have with my clients. They exercise my wine label compliance muscles, and at the same time provide bite size pieces of learning for my clients. (The best way to learn winery compliance) Rob was doing his best to stump me during this conversation- and as he put it, “I’d really like to believe that you’re incorrect, but unfortunately realize that more than likely you’re not”. In other words the legal ins and outs of wine label regulations often don’t make sense to the folks being regulated by them, but they’ll play by their rules to maintain that “truth in advertising”.If you want to know the full story on all federally regulated wine label items, you may be interested in my book, The Inside Story of a Wine Label.
