Interestingly, the colors are quite unlike anything we’ve seen with the Nintendo Switch thus far. The Joy-Con itself is black, but it's impossible to ignore what looks like a bright orange strip to the left of the controller. It’s unclear whether this is part of the Joy-Con itself, the mechanism by which it will attach to the console, or just an accessory. It seems safe to assume that the other Joy-Con will feature an inverted version of this color scheme, presumably replacing the orange element with the blue claimed by the leaker.I’m not the biggest fan of this color scheme, as the orange shown in the leak is quite garish and honestly looks like something you’d see on a piece of construction equipment rather than a gaming console. It’s definitely a bit of a downgrade compared to the now iconic Neon Red/Neon Blue configuration of the original Nintendo Switch, at least in my opinion.Luckily, Nintendo does tend to release its consoles in a couple of different variants so, if this leak is accurate, there might be a nicer option to choose from when it finally arrives.Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. You might also like...New Nintendo Switch 2 leak gives us more information about the console's potential design, dock, and official nameNintendo's 2024 in review: Even Nintendo Responds to the Switch 2 Leaks Nintendo. The original Nintendo Switch came out in 2017 and has since become the third best-selling console of all time (behind the PS2 and Nintendo DS). The original model had a 6.2” LCD and as a mid-generation refresh, Nintendo released the Switch OLED with a 7.0” OLED display. While it’s in no rush to do so, Nintendo is almost ready to launch the second generation model and it will be even larger.Nintendo Switch 2 (speculative renders)CAD renders of the Nintendo Switch 2 show that it will have an 8.4” display (most likely OLED) and that it will be bigger in all dimensions. That’s a notable jump in display size with 44% more surface area. This is assuming Nintendo sticks with the 16:9 aspect, which it seems that it will. But will it increase the screen resolution from 720p to 1080p? Rumors say “yes”.The table below shows the expected dimensions of the Switch 2 and those of the first generation models: Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo Switch OLED Nintendo Switch Screen size 8.4" 7.0" 6.2" Dimensions 271 x 116.4 x 31.4mm 241 x 102 x 14mm 239 x 102 x 14mm Joy-Cons 40.8 x 116.4 x 31.4mm 35.9 x 102 x 28.4mm The Joy-Cons will be removable, though with an improved attachment method (which you can see in the image above). Still, they are taller, wider and thicker than the first-gen Cons, which should improve ergonomics (the original Cons were always a bit small for adult hands). That said, the controls are the same and with the same layout too.By the looks of it, the Switch 2 has a USB-C port on the bottom with alignment holes for the dock. Interestingly, similar holes appear on top too. It’s not clear what that’s about.Anyway, there are also vent holes on top, so the chipset will be actively cooled. A recent leak suggests that the console will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra T239. That’s a chip from 2023 with a Cortex-X1, three Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores and an Ampere GPU with 1,536 CUDA cores. Note that this T239 in particular has been shrunk

The Nintendo Switch Pro could arrive before the holidays.LightRocket via Getty ImagesThe Nintendo Switch Pro is looking more and more like the real deal following various leaks, rumors and reports.Bloomberg recently reported that the new system would launch this Fall, and that we’d see an announcement prior to E3. Nintendo often releases a big Nintendo Direct before E3 officially kicks off—or at least at the very outset of the show—and a big hardware announcement would be the cherry on top. Then again, the announcement could come even sooner according to reports, so that the reveal doesn’t overshadow the games themselves. Now, another leak joins the evidence pile. Users in Mexico have discovered a New Nintendo Switch Pro listing on Amazon’s Mexican website:The new Nintendo Switch Pro will reportedly be more powerful than the base model and include a higher-resolution OLED screen. Given that the OG Switch is now 4 years old (crazy, I know) the need for a refresh with better hardware and a nicer screen makes sense.Of course, the only thing I really want from a new Switch are better Joy-Con controllers. My wishlist is complete fantasy, however. I don’t really care about better graphics, I want better frame-rates. I want controllers that fit adult hands better and—more than anything—don’t drift (I realize you can buy third-party controllers to solve the size complaint).Joy-Con drift is a deal breaker for me. I barely ever play on the Switch these days for that reason alone. It’s honestly one of the most egregious failures in modern gaming tech but we rarely hear about it for some reason. If the Switch Pro doesn’t fix Joy-Con drift I see no reason to buy one, even with a prettier screen and beefier processing power.Whether this Amazon Mexico leak is real or fake or an error remains to be seen, but all signs point to a big announcement soon. Hopefully Nintendo pairs its hardware reveal with some cool new games and some news on the mysterious Metroid game.Along with a possible Nintendo Switch Pro announcement, June is a huge month for video game reveals thanks to E3.

Tech experts have said leaked images and renders of a Nintendo Switch 2 console are "genuine".A number of images claiming to show 3D renders of the console were posted and have since been shared and circulated on social media. The images are understood to have been leaked by a Chinese factory worker and details of technical specifications have been shared too.And experts at Digital Foundry said the leaked images, renders and tech info are "genuine - or at least as accurate as an old prototype dating from October 2023 can be".- YouTubeAnother massive Direct sees Rich, John and Alex convene to discuss the huge Switch 2 prototype leak, the revelation that Intel ...Richard Leadbetter, technology editor at Digital Foundry, said: "The eight-inch LCD. The larger form factor. The new Joycons connecting via magnetic rails. At this point we can assume it's all true."Switch 2 has twin USB-C ports top and bottom. It'll also have a Micro-SD card slot - and we'd hope it supports the latest and greatest formats to allow for bandwidth-heavy games to run. "Otherwise you're reliant on the 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage contained therein. Cartridges are supported too, with strong hints that original Switch media is also supported."Nintendo faces the biggest challenge of all - somehow following that up [the success of the Switch]."Nintendo previously said it would reveal details of a successor to the Switch, largely speculated to be a Switch 2, before the end of the current financial year, in other words before the end of March 2025.There hasn't been any official reveal of a console or news from Nintendo at the time of writing. How to join the indy100's free WhatsApp channelSign up to our free indy100 weekly newsletterHave your say in our news democracy. Mobapad, a Switch accessory company, has posted some alleged details on the upcoming Switch 2. Including some highly requested features. The excitement for Nintendo’s next big console announcement continues to build. As a result, rumours and leaks are swirling. One particularly credible set of leaks comes from Switch accessory manufacturer Mobapad, which revealed some exciting details about what we might expect from the Nintendo Switch 2.The leaks were posted on Mobapad’s Facebook and Billibilli pages, and offer a number of insights into the features that the Switch 2 will be bringing to the table. The leaks seem to confirm that the new console will keep the hybrid nature of the Switch, maintaining a handheld and docked form. One of the more interesting points referred to Joy-Cons which will use an electromagnet to attach to the console, substantiating previous tentative rumors about this feature. The new style Joy-Cons are said to be larger and focus more on ergonomics. This is not the limit of the design changes, as the leak suggests that the SL and SR buttons will now be ‘metallic’ with a new button behind each Joy-Con and another new button underneath the Home button.NintendoA much-requested feature has been backwards compatibility, and many Nintendo fans will be delighted by word that the Switch 2 will be able to play Switch 1 carts. Though supposedly Switch 2 cartridges will be a slightly different shape and will not fit into the Switch 2 cartridge slot.In addition, the Bluetooth chip for the Switch 2 will support existing Joy-Con and Pro controllers, and will still allow for HD vibration by utilizing an ALPS dual-axis linear motor. The Switch 2 dock will continue to feature a USB-C port for power and will support up to 4K video output. In handheld mode, users will supposedly be able to enjoy a larger 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1080p. The redesigned kickstand is said to feature a damping bracket for better angle adjustment.RelatedAs always, since this information has not been officially announced by Nintendo, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
