New remote named origin and copies the remote into your local system. This remote will be used for all future fetches. There are two different scenarios in which remotes are created: You create a remote on a shared server so that other users can clone from this server and obtain the files they need to work on a project. Note that to create a remote on a shared server, you must have an access privilege of open or greater. While this task typically falls in the domain of an administrator, it does not require administrator privileges. You — an individual user — create one or more remotes on your personal server so that you can eventually push your work to and fetch files from one or more shared servers. You would create a remote on a shared server to dictate which subset of the shared server’s repository a personal server retrieves when it clones from the shared server. After cloning, you use the origin remote on your personal server. You can then either edit the origin remote or create a different remote to control which streams the personal server fetches and pushes.

Configuring Remote SettingsThe remote settings page allows the administrator to configure web administration access, and remote Application Programming Interface (API) access to Cerberus FTP Server. Cerberus allows remote access to the server administrator using a web browser, or through the desktop Cerberus FTP Server Graphical User Interface (GUI) when logged into the server.To activate remote access to the server administrator using a web browser, you must have a 'HTTP Admin' listener active, usually on port 8443, but any available port can be used. To add a new HTTPS Admin listener:Open the Server Manager pageSelect the Listeners tabSelect the button in the top right corner to add a new interface. The “Add New Listener” dialog box will appear to ask for the interface details (interface IP, type, and port combination)Select the IP address that you want to listen for connections onSelect the interface type (HTTPS Admin for web administration access)Enter the port you wish to listen on. Cerberus will automatically pre-populate the port with the default port for the type of listener you are adding. Web Admin is typically on port 8443.Press the Add button to add the listenerThe listener should now be added to the Interfaces list. Press Save to close the Server Manager and save your changes.Cerberus exposes several APIs for controlling many aspects of the server using SOAP web services for software developers.Remote Admin Settings (Administrator Accounts)There is always a primary admin account, with full permissions to all server functions. The primary admin account is highlighted in green lettering in the administrator list.Primary Admin UsernameThe username used to access the web administration page. This username is also used for basic authentication when using the SOAP web services API to access the server.Primary Admin PasswordThe password used to access the web administration page. This password is also used for basic authentication when using the SOAP web services API to access the server.NOTE: This is also the username and password used when accessing Cerberus as a Windows Service from the Cerberus GUI. Normally, administrators won’t be prompted for this password and the GUI will automatically connect to the service whenever it is started.The administrator can also control the server through web administration. The web administration feature has nearly the same capabilities as the desktop user interface. Most server functions can be controlled through web administration. We will be adding more features with every minor release until web administration mirrors the local graphical user interface.Secondary Web Administration AccountsYou can add additional web administration users, and limit their access to different aspects of the server like user management, reporting, etc.Secondary web administration users can be managed on the Remote Admin Settings page of the Remote tab.Press the New button to create a

Remote Server Administration means you avoid the problems associated with Remote Desktop - giving you the flexibility to allow access to VisualSVN Server only while protecting other server applications, the ability to switch between several VisualSVN Server instances with ease, and enhanced performance over that achieved with Remote Desktop. Overview Remote Server Administration allows you to manage remote instances of VisualSVN Server with the same MMC snap-in that is used to manage the server locally. Remote Server Administration is based on Windows Management Instrumentation technology which ensures stability, security and continual high-performance. With impersonation, all administrative actions are performed on the user's behalf, allowing you to audit all changes made to VisualSVN Server. You can also configure refined, customized permission levels if required. Controlling server access Remote Server Administration gives you the ability to grant permissions to manage VisualSVN Server while blocking access to manage other services such as IIS and SQL Server. When you want to grant permission to a new administrator, you simply add them to the VisualSVN Server Admins group. However, you are not required to provide local administrator permission to users who are eligible to manage VisualSVN Server. The user then has permission to manage VisualSVN Server, but not other applications (such as IIS and SQL) on the server. Remote Server Administration removes the need for Remote Desktop permissions in order to manage VisualSVN Server. Managing VisualSVN Servers smoothly If you've tried to work with several servers remotely using Remote Desktop you'll know that switching between servers is error-prone and inefficient. With Remote Server Administration you can customize your management console, creating a single console that allows you to manage several VisualSVN Server instances as well as your entire Windows infrastructure. Install VisualSVN Server on Windows Server Core An additional benefit of Remote Server Administration is that you can install and manage VisualSVN Server on Windows Server Core. Installing VisualSVN Server on Server Core saves resources (less disk space, less CPU time and less memory required) which delivers better virtualization. You also benefit from the decreased maintenance and management requirements and the reduced attack surface. Getting started with Remote Server Administration Setting up the Remote Server
