I have already demoed this a while ago but unfortunately didnt had the time to test them in a full mix. Asking for basic opinions from anyone who is familiar with this units sound, weight and usefullness during mixdown, who has had the chance to compare to the newer analog modeled stuff like Sly-fi, MJUC, clariphonic mkii, Acqua/nebula,etc.Wouldnt mind some fresh opinions on decapitator also.Thanks a lot! It's a bit of a one trick pony but I love what it does. When I want "that" sound it's just perfect. Enough control for some sound shaping but not so much as to get lost in endless tweaking. A lot of the newer saturator are more flexible but (in my experience) most won't quite do what Radiator does. For that matter the saturation in EchoBoy is quite special as well.It's all a matter of taste of course but aside from SoundToys the UBK/SlyFi stuff is the only other saturation plugins that I really dig. Well... OK, I do still occasionally use the bx_saturator but that's more for brightness enhancement.p.s. I do also use Decapitator. Though honestly if I had discovered earlier how to use EchoBoy as a saturator I might have skipped Decapitator. Decapitator is good but I find it a bit trickier to dial it in. 'I usually go for something slightly degraded, like a cheap Tape Echo--something with character that sits in the background, not distracting, but has some integrity. I’m boosting 100Hz and 16kHz with the EQP1A. It is deceptively "simple" looking but even small relative changes in its parameters can change a mix drastically....especially where heavier drum buss processing is involved.Overall, I recently purchased the Soundtoys 5 everything bundle and have not regretted it or even looked back. Super tools, great company. Great people.They give back to people in need....very commendable, and well worth the support from a community, like ours, that does not often profit from using their product. I for one, have never made a cent from this endeavor.As a result, I rarely if ever purchase plugins. This purchase was well worth it. I often find myself eliminating other plugins where and when I have a soundtoy plugin that does what the others would.I would also speak equally well of Izotope plugins. I have to agree with general sentiment here about Devil-LocDelux, Decap, Radiator etc. They (and ST) don't seem to get old, or tired for me. And I suspect it'll be a lot of years before they do (If ever). The longer I use them and get to know them, the more I seem to like what they do.Devil-Loc is an interesting beast, although it can get out of hand, real fast! It takes judicious decision making. But it does a special "something" that I find different to standard comps, and it's not just the extreme crushing. It adds cool harmonics to the right source in a good way. One of the most common things I love doing with it is setting crush/crunch between 0-1 then mixing in the darkness and the amount to taste. Even at that setting its doing
