SSL’s current E-Series EQ module for the X-Rack or API 500-series format allows users to switch between brown and black modes. Software emulations offer a similar choice. EQ1 is good on everything and can do anything you'd want. Avedis E27 also sees a good bit of use as a sweetener. Less often but they still have a place... RND551, Little Labs VOG, and IGS Rubberbands 500ME elysia xfilter 500 is very good for a transparent EQ, it's a bit like an SSL flavour, also the actual SSL 611 would be a very good choice as well, Maag EQ4-500 is another one, there are so many, cranesong make some really nice high end units. Both on instrument and on vocals. I also found out that you can use the comp and EQ separately since the guitar DI input also can work as a Line input!
