SBS 2003 recently crashed and I set up a new SBS 2008. I'm trying to rejoin a PC to the new box, using the same domain name as used previously. This workstation was joined to the domain before the crash, but the user always logged in locally instead of to the domain, so all her documents, settings, and customizations are stored in the local user account. When I ran the wizard, it joined the workstation to the domain, but it did not copy the documents and settings, even though I selected the local profile as the one I wanted to use. I've tried it several times, sometimes restoring a copy of the registry first so it could perform in the original state.What I'd like to see happen is to not only rejoin the domain, but also to copy the docs and settings from the local profile and make them the domain profile.Am I using the program wrong, or maybe have an incorrect expectation of what the wizard alone can do. Any suggestions are appreciated. Instead it configures the existing user profile "in place" so that it can be used by the uer's new domain account.To migrate to SBS you should run the SBS "Join Computer" Wizard first, and then run User Profile Wizard to migrate the user profiles. Once joined to the domain (this particular profile is currently a local profile and not the domain profile), I'd like to see the original documents and settings in place, but instead, the profile wizard creates a new user profile and joins that to the domain. The new 'CopyProfile' setting in Profwiz.config allows you to do just that."This is exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe it's because I downloaded the personal edition and it does not come with profwiz.config. Using the profwiz.exe, including the procedure listed above, does not get me a functional copy of the original user profile. If this is a feature of the paid version only I certainly understand and will purchase a copy today. I just thought it was free for personal use.Thanks again for your help. The Wizard does not create the new profile - the new profile is created by Windows. You need to make sure you reboot the machine after the migration: that way you will either get the migrated profile or an error that will tell you why the profile cannot be loaded.The different Editions of User Profile Wizard have different features. Hi,After moving the profiles on Windows 10 from local to domain profiles, users can't launch any Windows app, I am using the latest version.Any advice ?! I am having the same issue. Migrated profile and many apps do not work. Firefox Hangs and many other programs fizzle out. migrating from windows 10 to windows 10. What do you mean by reinstall all win 10 apps? Like go one at a time? This has happened to every computer and user we have migrated onto our new Domain. The Above PowerShell command works, to a point, but the system still acts sluggish and eventually the user loses almost all, if not all Icons on the Start Screen. Other option has been to backup their data, completely remove their user account on that computer and have them login and recreate their account on that system. (ISSUE DOES NOT AFFECT THEIR DOMAIN ACCOUNT). This is a huge annoyance. And Supports answer was, we were on the wrong version of windows...NOT. Firstly, we are sorry if anyone has any problems with our software. User Profile Wizard is used to migrate hundreds of thousands of profiles every year. Given the number of profiles migrated, the number of customers who have any issues is incredibly small. However, we are fully aware that if you are one of those customers, this doesn't help, and we write code every day to try to make User Profile Wizard are reliable as we can make it.
