Recently in my music journey, after a lot of experimentation, I fell in love with Dungeon Synth genre - itself often considered a subgenre of Dark Ambient, which I have also frequently enjoyed as a listener. It suits my orchestral music temperament, and is aesthetically satisfying on many levels. What sticks out most about the genre, outside of the aforementioned thematic elements, is its strong reliance on Soundfonts - though FM synth is also sometimes used, most often in combination with soundfonts. I also recently got my first audio interface, a Behringer U-Phoria UM2, so despite it's modest offering, I now have more than enough headroom to actually make electronica like I should be (without errors, for the first time ever). But unfortunately, my use of Sforzando quickly came to an end because of a flaw in the plugin that I couldn't resolve. The built in effects (mostly reverb) would go back to the default setting, on every single track, whenever I would load up a project. Since I got no response from their forums after a couple of days, I continued looking for an alternative until I found VSTSynthFont. Once I switched over from Sforzando to VSTSynthFont, using Zynewave Podium as my DAW, I switched over to its native zReverb plugin - readjusting my EQ to be sharper as well, on all of my tracks. Ultimately, this all was a blessing in disguise because it forced me to better understand reverb, and much like Podium, I can now say

That I found another independent music software developer with something worthy of my support. I appreciate the simplicity of VSTSynthFont, and the output gain works perfectly for me at the maximum setting in my arrangements. I will say that save for the normal rough edges of audio production in general, the only negative I've found with your plugin is the reverb setting. Out of interest I decided to give it a try, but all it really seems to do is produce distortion of the soundfont output. It's ultimately a very minor negative because the native reverb of my DAW is far more effective and my experience with Sforzando makes me more likely to depend on plugins dedicated to certain functions instead of relying to heavily on ancillary features. I thought that I would share my experience with your plugin here in the forum and express my gratitude for providing me a well-needed alternative to the other less-optimal options I was considering. I'll be glad to support SynthFont with a paid license at the end of my trial. Thank you.

************************************ GeneralUser GS v1.471 ****** By S. Christian Collins ****** 2/7/2017 ************************************GeneralUser GS is a GM and GS compatible SoundFont bank for composing, playing MIDI files, and retro gaming. It features 259 instrument presets and 11 drum kits, all while possessing a very low memory footprint (less than 30 MB of RAM). Due to its clever, detailed sound programming, GeneralUser GS can sound as good or better than SoundFonts that are 2-3 times its size.I decided on the name "GeneralUser" because the bank was designed to sound well with all kinds of music rather than specializing in only a few styles, thereby benefiting the general user. It's not a great name, but that's what I came up with almost 20 years ago, and I haven't bothered to change it.+---------------+| Compatibility |+---------------+Although GeneralUser GS was originally designed for use with Sound Blaster audio cards, the most recent development has been focused on SoundFont-compatible software instead. The current version of GeneralUser GS requires a SoundFont synth with support for SoundFont 2.01 modulators. Compatible synths include FluidSynth 1.0.9 or later (and other software that uses FluidSynth such as Qsynth, LMMS, and ScummVM, just to name a few), MuseScore 2.0.3 or later, SynthFont2 2.0.3.0 or later, and VSTSynthFont 1.080 or later. While the current version of GeneralUser GS can be used with the hardware synthesizer found in many Sound Blaster audio cards, you will achieve better results using a version that was designed especially for this hardware (available at other SoundFont synths do not support

Log in to postPrint ThreadBand-in-a-Box for WindowsOPVeteranJoined: Mar 2018Posts: 6,586I never had luck with SFartzano. I don't like that synth, or Coyote for that matter. I have heard the argument of "playable real tracks" that "require" Sforzando. However, I am willing to sacrifice those tracks if that what it takes to disable unwanted fartzano. If I select a "default synth" anything other than fartzano, it is still nagging about it, every time MST is loaded (attached image). Is there a way to disable / uninstall this wonderful plugin, so it goes away for good?Maybe I am missing something, but why was this not done with something universally acceptable, like SF2 (PG sound) bank?VSTsynthfont was (is?) included with BIAB. Bottom line, users will likely to re-voice midi anyway at some point. Why enforce a 3rd party plugin in such persistent way, without being able to disable it?Attached Files (Click to download or enlarge) (Only available when you are logged in)Band-in-a-Box for WindowsJoined: Jun 2009Posts: 3,110VeteranVeteranJoined: Jun 2009Posts: 3,110When I load a Super Midi Track I get Kontakt.Make a backup of the Hi-Q tgs in C:\bb\DX Settingscancel that dialog and look at the tgs nameload the VST you want to use and Save Group toC:\bb\DX Settings\Hi-Q 001 01 Piano, Acoustic, Grand Sforzando.tgs overwriting the currentnow next time you load the SMT say Yes to load tgs. There should be a list somewhere that points the SMT to that tgs, I'll have a look more later, but for now you can do that. Currently, I wouldn't say it's enforcing it, it's just giving you the choice to load it or not load. VSTSynthFont has an average user rating of 5.00 from 1 review. Rate Review VSTSynthFont.
