Moore. The sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, is set to bolster this ensemble cast even further, adding Michelle Yeoh, Kate Winslet, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, and Cliff Curtis to the team. The Way of Water will arrive in theaters on Dec. 16, with the Avatar re-release coming next month on Sept. 23. Avatar is Removed From Disney+ Ahead of the Re-Release 20th Century Studios Disney is looking to make all the money they can from the Avatar re-release, and the company has decided to eliminate the option of streaming the film one month before its arrival back in theaters. According to reports, the movie, which is currently the highest-grossing film of all time, was recently removed from the streaming service to fans' displeasure. Avatar first made its way to the service after Disney acquired Fox, and fans believed they would be able to watch the film from the comfort of their homes before the release of Avatar: The Way of Water in December. However, that won't be the case as 20th Century Studios, and Disney will be hoping for a big turnout at the theater on Sept. 23 for the re-release. For now, there's no word on when Avatar will return to Disney+. However, don't expect the film to make its way back to the platform anytime before the Sept. 23 re-release date.

Underwater sequences and a more traditional 24fps for simpler scenes. But it’s important to note that projectors cannot alternate between frame rates during a screening. So a high-frame-rate screening of “Avatar 2” will project the entire film in 48fps, and the scenes shot in 24fps will simply show each frame twice (though that is not something that would be noticeable to a viewer). Screenings in theaters not equipped to project in 48fps will simply show the entire film in a standard frame rate of 24fps, which means that many of the most visually impressive scenes will not be presented the way Cameron intended them.So for the most immersive experience, look for a showing that mentions a high frame rate (often abbreviated to HFR) or specifies that the theater uses single laser technology. Some theaters use older projectors featuring dual lasers, which offer slightly higher picture quality but do not allow 48fps projection. Single laser screenings will offer a very minuscule decline in picture quality, but most experts believe that the ability to watch action scenes at their intended frame rate is a trade-off worth making.“Avatar: The Way of Water”Courtesy of 20th Century StudiosIMAX vs. Other Premium FormatsBeyond that, the only other thing to consider is premium format options. IMAX theaters are still the biggest and loudest options, presenting the film on the largest possible screen with a premium sound system. The original “Avatar” was the highest-grossing IMAX film of all time even though there were only roughly 300 IMAX screens in the world at the time. That number has increased considerably in the subsequent 13 years, and “Avatar 2” will be the widest IMAX release of all time when it opens on over 1,500 IMAX screens worldwide. But that rapid expansion has been possible because not all IMAX screens are equal. Many multiplexes feature theaters labeled with the IMAX branding but are much smaller than original IMAX screens (even if they are larger than a standard screen). “Real” and “fake” IMAX screens are labeled the exact same way, so it takes a bit of research to figure out which one you’re seeing. Cinephiles who want to see the film on the largest possible screen should seek out an IMAX theater playing the film in a 1.43 aspect ratio rather than 1.9, such as the AMC Lincoln Square in New York City or the AMC Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles. After that, Dolby Cinema screens are the second highest quality option (though both IMAX and Dolby screenings will cost more due to the third-party maintenance that those theaters require). Many of those theaters are also equipped with single laser technology that will allow the film to be viewed at high frame rates. Many

For years now, Avatar 2 has seemed like an enigma, an, “I’ll believe it when I see it” moment. But the first footage of James Cameron’s Avatar sequel was revealed today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, as well as the film’s official title, Avatar: The Way of Water. While the only people privileged enough to see the trailer today are film industry insiders, fans can get a look at it debuts in theaters ahead of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6.So far reaction to the trailer, which was shown in 3D, and the accompanying visuals has been overwhelmingly positive, with the film’s title logo and stills also being revealed on social media. You forget 3D can actually be pretty great. The teaser trailer for #Avatar2 is loaded with great looking visuals and a quiet but powerful score. Very little dialogue. Could be wrong but think the teaser was shown in variable frame rate. Was it @JimCameron? pic.twitter.com/bOEIQSIeZV— Steven Weintraub (@colliderfrosty) April 27, 2022Cameron also appeared at CinemaCon in a pre-recorded message, saying that this film was “designed for the biggest screen and the most immersive 3D available,” and that he “set out to test the limits of what cinema can do.” The new film, which includes original Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, CCH Pounder and Stephen Lang, will also feature new faces, including Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Edie Falco, Cliff Curtis, Jemaine Clement and Vin Diesel. (Welcome to your new family, Vin.) Set several years after the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water is the story of the Jake Sully (Worthington), Neytiri (Saldana), and their children, who will anchor all four of the proposed Avatar sequels.Avatar: The Way of Water will not be released in theaters until December 16, and the remaining Avatar sequels have been projected to come out on Dec. 20, 2024, Dec. 18, 2026, and Dec. 22, 2028. The original film came out in 2009, so to refresh memories and expose new fans who weren’t yet born (but are actual teenagers now) to the original, Disney plans to re-release Avatar in theaters on Sept. 23. Gotta keep that Pandora’s box office record, after all. Tags Avatar: The Way Of Water James Cameron
